Meet the instructors

Hello Everyone! My name is Kendrick Carritt and I was born and raised in Red Deer Alberta. I have always had such a love and passion for dance and hope that I can impart that into future dancers. I took dance lessons for 13 years up until I graduated & am currently continuing my training through an online studio out of California. My goal with Artium is to create a space where dancers are not only getting a great dance education, but where they are also being genuinely loved and cared for. If you scroll down a little bit further you can hear a bit more about my heart & vision for Artium.

“Hi my name is Jess Thomsen and I will be teaching ballet this year at Artium Studio this fall. Here is a bit about my dance background:I have been dancing since I was three years old (about 22yrs).
I have danced competitively for about 9 of those years with a wide variety of styles including ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, etc. I choreographed for my high school dance program and with Miss Kendrick for multiple church events. Kids and dance are both a passion of mine and I am excited to work with you and your children as they pursue the arts of dance”

Vision

The Heart Behind Artium

My dream is to restore purity back into the arts. I believe that art is a gift and should be used to inspire & bring life, and in many regards, we have lost the innocence of the arts. My goal with Artium is to create a space where students can fall in love with dance, with creative expression and with the joy and life that comes from art in its purest form. We will have fun doing that in an environment that incorporates the best of both recreational & competitive principles of dance.  Every dancer will be simultaneously encouraged and pushed to reach their full potential.
